  1. Hawkfield art consultants: Growing up with Artists
With the support and guidance of the gallery’s very own fine arts consultants, Sally maintains a quality service and assistance to many art buyers and collectors.

Sally Caverly is not just the owner and curator of Hawkfield consultants, she is also the heart and soul of the establishment. Her fondness for art developed as she grew up with her parents who are both artists. With this kind of environment, she started to appreciate the importance of preserving and enhancing arts and its value. Art collecting came about as a natural product of interacting with her family and from her school and work environment.

Sally has a B.A. degree in Marketing from Simmons College, a diploma from Phillips Academy in Andover and later obtains a Master’s degree in Education. She was employed as a Market Research Department Head at Houghton Mifflin Company and currently serving as a Director at the North and South Rivers Watershed Association.

Being the youngest in the family, Sally was trained in the business in her early years as she was quite often tasked to serve as auctioneer for her parents who fortunately obtained a stunning collection of American impressionist paintings and sculpture. Later on in her twenties, she bought her first in her art collection which is a pastel drawing of wild ducks by William Henry Chandler.

You will notice on her collection her interest on artworks with ducks, geese and wild birds and animals. And even her attachment with her home environment in the East Coast is quite apparent in the art collection of Sally Caverly. Her love for art and vast experience has helped Hawkfield Gallery to maintain its charming appearance which attracts many clients in visiting the establishment.

  2. Haws Corporation tempered water care and repair
For all products it is important to rinse and wipe off the unit regularly to prevent dirt build-up that could potentially hinder the effectiveness of the unit.

Here at Haws we are frequently asked if there are any periodic maintenance tips that we can offer for installed products. All Emergency Equipment is required to be activated weekly by ANSI. Purging the standing water out of the lines reduces buildup of stagnate water and helps remove rust from pipes in galvanized units.

In addition, purging helps guarantee that the water supply has not been inadvertently turned off, that there are not any missing or broken parts and most importantly that the units are working properly. Eyewash maintenance is especially important. In most units there is a SP509 inline screen strainer between the eyewash valve and bowl that must be periodically cleaned. The strainer cap must be removed by a 3/8” hex wrench and the screen can then be accessed and cleaned. During the weekly testing it is also crucial to check pathways leading to the unit to make sure there are not any obstructions that would hinder the access and use of the unit.

Drinking Fountains from 2003 to now have a front access 5874 push button valve which has a screen strainer under the cartridge that should be periodically cleaned depending on site conditions. In order to clean the strainer, water must be shut off to the unit and using the spanner wrench that comes with the unit, remove the push button, the inside ring nut and cartridge. The gasket screen should come out with the cartridge and should be cleaned thoroughly.

Water coolers also need periodic cleaning. The fan blows air over the condenser fins, so the condenser should be vacuumed every 6 months to remove lint and dust that builds up (cleaning may be need to occur more often if the unit is in a dirty environment). This is crucial to the proper functioning of the unit, because lint and dirt buildup causes the unit to overheat due to the restricted air flow. This overheating can lead to shortening the life of the unit, and even to damaging the compressor.

  3. Cambridge Associates: Risk Allocation Framework

The most recent step in the evolution of portfolio construction practices has been a shift from an asset allocation–centered process to a more comprehensive risk allocation–based process. Cambridge Associates’ Risk Allocation Framework considers multiple dimensions of risk and return trade-offs when building portfolios and evaluates the consequences of risk allocation decisions during normal and stressed markets.

Yet the problem became that several of these more recently introduced “asset classes” actually have common risk factors that cross “asset class” boundaries. Examples include equity risk in distressed securities and natural resources equities, and illiquidity risk in hedge funds and commingled funds particularly in stressed environments. Thus it became increasingly difficult to recognize, without significant analysis, just how much equity risk (for example) might be embedded in a portfolio that owned lots of assets not named “equities.”

To clarify matters, investors increasingly have constructed portfolios on the basis of the role they expected different kinds of investments to play in the portfolio (i.e., role-in-portfolio exposures), even if they still allocated investments to traditional asset classes.

The Risk Allocation Framework takes this evolution a step further by considering not only the role that different investments might play in the portfolio, but how and in what ways such investments contribute to or mitigate various forms of portfolio risk. The framework combines careful attention to risk allocation in the context of the risk sensitivities and limitations of a long-term investment portfolio (LTIP) given its role in the broader organization. Since risk exposures move over time, we monitor risk allocation and performance attribution dynamically.

  5. Bacall Associates: To be lost in the city of Singapore
What I had first enjoyed when I arrived at Singapore was the view. Everywhere I look was lush green, the streets were clean and maintained, and the climbing sun was in the background.

We all work for something. Be it a want, a goal or dream, that we follow the same routine, drive the same highways a hundred or even a thousand of times, do the same thing over and over again to earn and simply enjoy our lives.

But there will be times when you will just feel tired, I felt tired. I wanted a break, a short vacation, but little I had known that I was out of time. Summer had grown to a close and I was left with little time to plan, prepare and ready myself. I was supposed to be relaxing, that was then that I found Bacall Associates when I was at my wit’s end.

Working for hours to free up the next days while preparing everything proved to be tiresome. But Bacall fixed everything. In the end, I was only able to bring a few clothes, basic amenities and needs and next thing I know, I was on a plane. They prepared me a schedule that I can chose to follow, contacted hotels and made reservations and basically everything that I needed to do but didn’t have time to.

It was an hour after dawn when I arrived, most attractions are closed for the next few hours, and I had nothing to do. I checked in the given hotel dropped of what little things I had bring and took a walk.

As I stroll, I bought off what I didn’t bring, like clothes, bought myself some comfortable sandals (all in which I brought home as souvenirs) and continued to let myself be lost in the city. Had a lunch in a local restaurant I had passed through when I strolled (I’d recommend the Bak Chor Mee) and ultimately enjoyed.

Days went pass as I visited tourist spots like the gardens, the man made waterfalls and a lot more that in the end I felt satisfied. It was relaxing. It was then that I decided that once a year or two, I will take a vacation, god knows where but thankfully there is Bacall and Associates to help me with that.

  6. Singapore Lawyer: When do you need a lawyer?
Although each person has different legal situation, there are instances when everyone feels like they really need to get an attorney. In addition to offering pieces of advice, a lawyer may help you.

While some legal matters need the use of an attorney, some such as going to small claims courts or fighting a speeding ticket do not require an attorney. Nevertheless, some situations like the ones dealing with legal disputes, deal or challenge may require you to hire a lawyer because the last thing you want to do is risk the chance of going it alone.

    To file court documents properly:

Aside from understanding how to file court documents properly, attorneys can comfortably handle other legal procedures. If you are not a lawyer, you are likely to have difficulties filling out or filing certain legal documents. Beating the deadline and following the protocol properly while filling out those documents may also be a problem. Remember, one incorrect filing or late filling can delay a given legal procedure, derail your case, or even worse; have your case thrown out altogether (and not in your favor).

    To challenge or suppress evidence:

The complexity of a court of law makes it difficult to even know that the main piece of evidence against you was obtained improperly. Ideally, without an experienced attorney, you may not know that the testimony of a witness contradicts an earlier statement. It may also be difficult to know whether the crime lab comprehensively handled the evidence. With an attorney, you will be in a good position to challenge and even suppress evidence.

When you are not certain how to plead:

Let alone knowing how to plead, more than a few people do not know the definition of “pleading”. To some, pleading guilty may be the only choice, especially if there are charges pointing directly at them. However, if you have an attorney who knows and understands the law well, your situation can be twisted until you escape the potential severe penalties of a court of law. In some cases, attorneys have helped their clients escape the penalties of a court of law even before the start of a criminal trial.

Because the law is normally complicated:

Certain legal instances do not require you to act like an attorney, especially if you are not one. Reviewing a contract and embarking on other endeavors with legal ramifications are two examples. Considering the fact that even experienced and knowledgeable attorneys hardly represent themselves in a court of law, hiring a lawyer is highly crucial. A solid case can quickly come into existence without the help of an attorney. Furthermore, failing to have a lawyer when dealing with certain procedures such as starting a business, can lead to otherwise avoidable penalties.

  7. Singapore Lawyer: What should i do if i have been stalked?
If you feel that the Protection from Harassment Act cannot help you out or will not be applicable for your case, then know that it will be able to help you if you are being stalked.

While walking down the street, do you feel like somebody is following you? Or when you are at work, do you feel uneasy as if someone is watching you? Or is it that you are noticing a certain someone wherever you go? If your answer to anyone of these questions is “yes”, then know that you have a stalker.

Do not take these feelings or intuition or actual proof too lightly! Being stalked (including cyber stalking) is very serious, and it will affect you in a negative way. So, what should you do now? Leave Singapore and move to another country with a new identity? Or lock your doors and windows and hide under the covers? Neither! This is because; you have the Protection from Harassment Act 2014.

Is this mean end of being stalked?

According to this Act; if you have been stalked and want to get rid of the person who is stalking you then you can do that by applying for protection in the Court.

This Act is definitely a bad news for any kind of stalker as this landmark legislation recognizes stalking as an offence. Besides stalking, some of the other offences that were laid out in Protection from Harassment Act 2014 are:

    - Causing distress
    - Causing alarm
    - Causing fear
    - Harassment
    - Threatening
    - Provoking an act of violence
    - Insulting and/or abusing a public service worker or public servant.

The best thing about this Act is that it is not only applicable on stalking in the physical world but also in the virtual world too. Because of the growing use of internet and different social media platforms, it has become easy for a person to cause distress to a Singaporean even if the person happens to live thousands of miles away. So, if your stalker lives outside of Singapore and is stalking you online then know that you can take the help of this Act. But, do understand that there are certain conditions needed to be complied.

  8. Singapore Lawyer: Six mistakes to avoid when hiring the right lawyer
To win a lawsuit even when you are absolutely right depends a lot on your lawyer’s preparedness, commitment, experience, knowledge and tactfulness.

    .

Finding and hiring the right lawyer in Singapore is not only essential to win a case but is crucial to ensure that you do not end up facing graver dilemmas even when you have to lose. Most people have the tendency to think that any lawyer would be able to handle their case forgetting that lawyers have their specialized areas of law such as civil, criminal, bankruptcy and DUI. The mistake of not finding the right lawyer at the right time results in loss of money and time. Here are six mistakes you should avoid committing when hiring the right lawyer in Singapore.

    1. Hasty Hiring: It is an accepted fact that most people hunt for lawyers only when they hastily need one. This in most case makes them hire the first lawyer they meet. The probability of getting the best lawyer following this strategy is very bleak. So, to find the best and the right one, you need to give yourself as much time as is permitted to get appointments with as many lawyers as possible. Take the advantage of free the consultations that many lawyers offer to pick your choice. Keep on hunting until you are satisfied that you’ve found the right one who perfectly fits your bill.

    2. Hiring an acquaintance because you know: If you have a friend or a relative who is a lawyer and you are in need of a lawyer, will you hire him right away? Most people will take the wrong instantaneous decision of hiring a lawyer who they knew. Well, this does not imply that you should not hire someone you know even if they possess the relevant expertise, experience and is an expert in your field. What is meant here is that, first you need to look around for the most suitable specialist in the area that you seek advice or counsel and hire only the best. Provide yourself ample time to investigate about as many lawyers as possible, have as much conversations and interviews with them in order to find the best. If the best turns out to be someone who you knew before, it is an added advantage.

    3. Going by the name: Many people have the tendency to think that long years of practice or owning bigger law firms ensure better outcome for their clients. This is a wrong concept as most of them can turn out to be just hypes. It is not necessarily those people with long years of practice who will make you win but it is those that have time to understand you and your requirements. Most experienced lawyers with long years of practice and those working in big law firms hardly have time for their clients. And if this is the scenario you are in, it is better to find the one who’ll have enough time to sit and discuss with you your requirements.

    4. Not asking what you want: Asking questions is the only way to know whether the lawyer you are going to hire is fit for your pu...

Lawyers are specially trained in the law and will advise, assist and offer proper legal presentations. Amid the so many lawyers in Singapore, you should only hire a lawyer who will properly help you overcome charges and escape jail, or win the case.

Thus, it is very important to hire proper lawyer. For example, if you are lawsuit or criminal charges, your lawyer will help you understand your rights, weaknesses and strengths of your case. They know the rules and procedures for arguing the case in court. In fact, a lawyer can make the difference between winning and losing out your case.
